Impersonal Portraits
Charcoal and Watercolor by Matthew M Johnson

August 19th – September 11th

Opening Reception
Thursday August 19th 6-9 pm

A traditional charcoal and watercolor portrait of… a cell phone tower!? The configuration of each cell phone tower is as unique as the people in Matt’s life. These portraits are fleshy visual likenesses, capturing the personality of these familiar stoic entities. “As the cell phone has integrated into my live it has led to a depersonalization of my relationships through convenience. The towers represent my connection the world. Everyone I know and everyone I have yet to meet.” –Matt

This show is made possible through a grant from the Tacoma Arts Commission.
